Chicago
I can now check off Chicago off my list of places I want to visit. Erik and I went on our first vacation together there in early September. We stayed with someone I met on Couchsurfer, a fellow Cal alum who is now a professor at Northwestern and, as it turns out, was a former coach to the Berkeley dance team. The universe always finds ways for connection. He lives in Andersonville, which is like the Silverlake to Los Angeles’s West Hollywood and the Jackson Height’s to New York City’s West Village. If you get the reference, then I applaud you.
I was really snappy with Erik during this vacation and I apologize. I think it was the fact that I expected so much from him and also that as I get older, I find it harder to adapt to new situations. So I really need to practice the adage of doing one thing each day that scares me in order to keep me on my toes.
In retrospect, Chicago is a beautiful city. It would be an inspiring place to live in as an artist. I would probably go there again.

at the Museum of Science and Industry. In general, Chicago has great museums.

Erik bought me this as a gift. Tee hee.

Chicago skyline. Breathtaking.

Gigantic Marilyn Monroe

Jay Pritzker Pavillion

The Cloud Gate AKA The Bean. Apparently, it was created by an artist from Berkeley. GO BEARS!

The only reason I took a picture of this is because of the female photographer to the right. The denim top/red-orange skirt combination is inspired. If Sartorialist ever went to Chicago, they would’ve put her in their blog.

Pleasantly surprised by the collections at the Art Institute- Chicago.

I love taking pictures of antropomorphic-looking animals.

And a trip to Boystown with my friend Phillippe to end the trip. Boystown— not a big fan of it. The racial tension between whites and blacks was very apparent.
