Week 3 - No More Whatevers
I’ve realized that my anxiety had been pretty high so fast this year. I think part of that has to do with the fact that I’m being hit with a barrage of possibilities, opportunities, and obstacles lately. And for the first time in a while, I’m being really conscientious with all of them. I’m definitely trying to stop saying “Whatever” to things because...

YELLOW PEARL REMIX
Another Pacific Standard Time event to share with everyone. Come if you can. I know Nobuko from several years back. She was one of the mentors for a Collaboratory project I was a part of with other artists and performers. I feel blessed that I’ve lived in Los Angeles long enough to have formed a network of truly inspiring artists.
Here’s the info for the event. (P.S. A Tumblrer I...

WEEK 2- JOSHUA TREE & Such
For MLK Jr weekend, me, my boo, and two other friends went camping at Joshua Tree Park. It was my first time there and it didn’t disappoint. I needed to get away from the city. I didn’t get much of a chance to be introspective and figure out what my game plan is for this year there, but it was relaxing nonetheless.
Highlights:
- A discussion on finding Vietnamese-Korean...

variations on Sonakinetography #3
From my dear friend and fellow dance partner, Bea:
This is an amazing FREE performance being put on at a wonderful space. The artists that have come together are very passionate and excited about this work. The dance is very simple yet complex. It requires perfect presence and commitment from the performers while being engaged in a structure.
I am very excited and honored to be sharing in...

Happy 2012! Life Continues...
I don’t believe that the way my year starts sets the tone for the rest of the year, but so far, 2012 has been rather rough.
I have several friends who’ve had someone close to them die. My last living grandparent, my Lolo, was administered into the hospital with painful gout on his legs, but they’ve also found a growth in his lungs. At first, the doctors believed it was...

– Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
Rarely do I ever read the Bible now, but I thought this was appropriate for the start of 2012.

INVIDIOUS
adjective
tending to cause discontent, animosity, or envy
As I was studying for my GRE Verbal, I came across this word.
And I was thinking: many of us have a person or people in our lives who is/are invidious. And MAYBE we are that person to those around us.
What can we do in our lives to get rid of these people in our lives? If that’s not possible- say it’s our parents- how can...

Pilgrimage to NYC
My last trip to NYC was the first I felt like I could actually live there. I wanted to experience the city with my bf and during this trip, I was a lot more at-ease than Chicago and, therefore, less cunty.
Other than an hour-long baggage claim fiasco that was easily resolved, everything went smoothly. We stayed with my friends Shawn and Mark in Astoria, Queens. We ate at some really good...

Chicago
I can now check off Chicago off my list of places I want to visit. Erik and I went on our first vacation together there in early September. We stayed with someone I met on Couchsurfer, a fellow Cal alum who is now a professor at Northwestern and, as it turns out, was a former coach to the Berkeley dance team. The universe always finds ways for connection. He lives in Andersonville, which is...

Over-Scheduled October
I’m taking a study break.
I wish I were Dr. Manhattan from Watchmen just so I can be in two places at once and still be fully present at each.
I’m finally moved in to my new place, but I’m crunched for time. This Saturday, Erik and I are hosting a Mad Men-themed birthday party for Erik. So, we need to be all cleaned up and organized for the event.
Apparently, Mad...
